Healthy lifestyle Now and for the Future
Theresa Temborius - Ms. Wheelchair Illinois
As a registered nurse for twenty-two years and Ms. Wheelchair Illinois 2002, Theresa Temborius knows the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle. She was in a sledding accident, and is now a T-12, L1 paraplegic who stays active by swimming, hand cycling, and gardening. She says, "I try to keep my body in the best physical shape I can. If I ever have the chance to walk again I want to be ready. The EasyStand helps me achieve this."
Theresa's standing program includes standing in her EasyStand 5000 Mobile 1-2 hours everyday. She comments, "I use my standing table to exert weight on my bones to help prevent brittle bones in the future. It makes me feel better to see things from a standing point of view for a change. I enjoy the extra independence the mobility option gives me in the kitchen." She's a woman on the go.
Theresa is not only a woman on the go, she is going strong to try to help others with the frustrations of their injuries. In July 2002, she is participating in the Ms. Wheelchair America Competition, through which she hopes to inspire other like herself to return to society and live life to the fullest. The Ms. Wheelchair America Competition is not a beauty pageant, but a competition to select the most accomplished and articulate spokesperson for the millions of disabled Americans. Congratulations, Theresa, on all your accomplishments!
"I usually read the newspaper each morning in my EasyStand 5000. That way, no matter how busy the day gets, I know I have done the most important things first!"
