Create a Healthy Tomorrow by Prescribing a Home Standing Program Today
Standing is not Just for Rehab
As a professional who sees patients with spinal cord injury, you are aware of the secondary complications that arise after a spinal cord injury. Rehab facilities that incorporate standing/weight bearing programs see the effects of secondary complications minimized. However, a full standing program shouldn’t just be limited to a client’s initial rehab sessions. In order to experience the long-term medical benefits of standing, a standing frame must be prescribed for home use upon discharge.
Funding Opportunities
When therapists prescribe a stander with their client's initial equipment purchase (e.g. wheelchair, commode), their clients have the best chance of obtaining funding for the stander through medical insurance. Insurance companies are more likely to cover the stander when it is included with the initial order for a wheelchair and other necessary rehab equipment.
Ongoing Home Program
Your clients stand in rehab, that is the first step. Now you need to make sure they continue their standing program at home. A standing program should not stop once the patient leaves the rehab, as it is one of the few programs that can easily be accomplished at home. Prescribe a stander for each of your patients so they can continue their standing program at home and gain the greatest long-term health benefits.
